CAMP PREP

We're off to an adventure this weekend. The boys are staying home, thanks to the lovely Rita. Kday is running in this awesome, first annual event and the Buca Bird and I are tagging along for the ride to the glorious Zions National Park. I can't wait. Red rock, my mini me and my favorite man on earth. No one on the team has really trained - so it should be fun.

Today I'm busily trying to prepare food, pack, and prep the house for guests - as we leave eaaaaarly maƱana.

PET SHOP DUNKING AND GOLDFISH DUMPING

Hold on a sec. I just sat down to write this post and the boys are being waaaaaay too quiet upstairs.... alone.

Aaaaaaand, just as I had expected. Trouble.
That's Riders pet shop toy in the toilet, a few feet of soaking wet toilet paper scattered around the room and a not so innocent looking Owee drenched in toilet water. Super. You wonder why I don't blog like I used to.

So I have been avoiding the dentist for almost 2 years now, despite a problematic tooth. Saturday evening, my plan evaded me and my tooth cracked.

Ugh, hang on. Two screaming boys are demanding my attention. Be riiiiiiiiight back......

Ok, they were hungry. Nothing a little goldfish in the back of a dump truck couldn't fix.

What was I saying again? Oh ya, something about the dentist... I lost my train of thought. Oh well, never mind.
We'll try again tomorrow.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY

Ever since the fatal accident of my laptop - It's been harder to write my daily findings. It requires me to sequester myself to the cold dark basement Office/laundry/workout/food storage/bathroom and lock the kids on the opposite side of the door. Then my mind tries to decipher it's thoughts into an organized sentence  while trying to deflect the whaling cries from my children onto their toys instead of onto my lap.

So I think about giving up on my writing. I figure you'll all find someone else's words to read, the few of you out there that do actually read me. But then I miss it. I miss the tapping of my finger tips against the keyboard as my thoughts pour out of my mind like rushing waterfall having been damned all season. I miss the way my mind has to be more present in the moment and the awareness that my writing demands of my mind.

Then I read this today and it's exactly how I feel. So I'll attempt to lock myself in the office/laundry/workout/food storage/bathroom room more often and keep my fingers tapping away at this dirty old keyboard. Now I need to go get some windex and clean this sucker off.

See you tomorrow.

STUPID NUMBER 3

I was going to post today.
Then I found out Kevin was in a car accident.
He's fine.

But you know how bad things happen in 3's? Well, lets hope this is #3 and we can have a break... for like a whole entire few months please.

1. Honda Accord stolen
2. The borrowed 1986 Corolla we've been using to replace the accord broke down and is in the shop
3. Kevin got hit by a jackass who gave Kevin fake info and then fled from the scene of the crime. Oh, and did I mention Kevin was driving my mom's car. Double great.

So we'll be spending our tax returns on car damages... oh wait, we don't get a tax return because our children don't exist according to the government.

Sorry for the downer post.
Be back tomorrow with something a little less "nobody likes me, everybody hates me, I guess I'll go eat worms..." kinda post.

And yes, I'm well aware that there are much more traumatic things that are happening in the world, so I really shouldn't even bother to post about silly little situations like this.
But too late.

A WHOLE BUNCH OF RANDOM

I just went for a "run."
It was only 3 miles. And I walked A LOT of it.
The first .5 mile SUUUUUUCKED.
Then my body warmed up a little and I actually ran a half a mile without stopping.
This is sadly a big accomplishment for me.
Sadly.
Then I walked a little and then ran .3 miles more.

It's discouraging to see how far I've fallen.
It's also good for me - so as not to fall any further.
And I'm stubborn as hell, so it fuels the fire.

*******

The weather today was glorious.
We went to Station Park and listened to the music, watched the dancing water and played on the astro-turf.
Old music makes my spirit happy.
Stuff like from the 30's and 40's. It really is impossible to be in a bad mood while listening to that.

*******

Man life is so much easier these days.
The boys are both walking - no more carrying two kids or two car seats.
Rider is past the hump of throwing food - well, throwing everything.
And Owen is sleeping, independently in his crib for naps.
MIRACLE on 91st street.
Owen has also somewhat let up on the constant crying and has even found himself wandering off to play without my hip.
And Layla is fire and ice. Sweeter than sweet and pushes my buttons all at the same time.
Life is good.

********

I have up days and down days.
More up than down lately.
Last week I had a really really down day.
Trust me, I cried to this girl about it.
But it's a wonder how pouring your heart out to God while laying in bed soaking your sheets with mascara stains... it just seems to get better after that. God is looking out for us.
He rescues me and reminds me of how glorious my life is, and helps me open my eyes to the greatness of it.

*******

Tomorrow we do our taxes.
Barf.
If there is anything that makes me want to check into a psych ward for a week - it's taxes.
Especially because of the legal issues with Layla's SSN (lack there of)
As well as Rider's adoption claim... which I'm sure will be audited.
Double barf.

Wish me luck.
Someday I'll get SSN's for my children and I'll actually get to claim them on a tax return and therefore get to buy a new car for Kday.
THE END
