They caught wind that Lady and I would be in "MORMON MIAMI." It's sooo hard to get away these days. Please..... no autographs!

Grandpa flew us to St George on Friday...
We were in search of this...
And to meet Great Grandma R.
One of my most favorite years of my life was 2008 when I spent my Thursdays and Fridays taking care of G.G.R. She lived with my parents for a short while and due to her advanced Alzheimer's Disease she is a lot of work. With less than 20 second memory, aggitation, confusion and anxiety, she struggles to find joy in life now. But babies always help her revert back to the natural instinct of a mother and she relaxes and enjoys life for a few moments.
She sang Lady a few ditties...
Then, we put on this (and I snacked on those thighs) and we took a dip...
Loved it...
Lady showed me how to relax and enjoy...
Then we hopped back on this...
And did this...
And couldn't wait to get back to Kday.

KITCHEN PRETTIES

S.DAY
Although aprons are on their way "back in style" these days... I have always been a fan of them. Kday often used to tease me when he would come home to see me in an old fashioned apron, cell phone in one pocket and my attempt to cook dinner smeared across the other pocket. Fancy aprons are all the rage, but I also think back to those lovely flour-sack aprons that our grandmothers used to wear. They were so much smarter than us. Those aprons served such a practical purpose.
This woman says " There was a time when a woman rose and put on her apron as her most functional piece of clothing. She hardly left her bed, let alone her house, without it. Early photographs of frontier women bear witness to the one garment common to all - the apron. Frontier women wore aprons with pockets. Those pockets concealed hankies, leftover cold biscuits and ham, small toys, eyeglasses, roots, plants, and other stuff gathered from the wilderness."
I used to don my apron only to cook dinner... but I soon realized how nice it was to always have a few handy pockets to stuff things in as I pick up the house. Or a place to wipe my hands after giving Lady a bath or wiping her nose. I love it!
Give it a try... the apron doesn't even have to be a cute fancy one. A plane flour sack with a pocket will do.
Here's a few of my favorites that you might see me sporting if you stop by my home during the day!
Have a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend!

Bumped Back... a little.

The Wasatch Back is in 23 days. I haven't been running in the last two weeks. It's time to face the music and just get out and do it already. I have the longest total distance of the race at 21+ miles. I'm FREAKING OUT.
The farthest I've EVER run in a day is 9 miles. Sun-of-a! It's go time.
Unfortunately I have to say I FAILED to meet my first goal of the year. My weight is no where near my 140 mark. In fact, I'm farther from it now than I've been in 3 months. Stupid.
Well, that just means I'm normal like everyone else and that my goals aren't always perfectly obtainable. The weight goal is still there... I'm just bumping it back to July 6th. Layla's Birthday Party. It's gonna be close. It's going to take some seriously demanding efforts and NO CHEATING OR PUTTING IT OFF UNTIL NEXT WEEK.

THE FIX

S.DAY
Ahhh, sigh of relief. It's done. We made it. At about 2:45 am on Saturday morning I was having serious doubts that we were going to be able to pull our stuff together and open shop in 7 hours. About 5.5 hours of sleep spread over a 60 hour time period left me feeling a bit on edge come doors opening and I was holding back tears while feeling like I was being pulled in 97 directions at once. But seeing Kday in his element, selling bikes and working at the shop he created... it was totally worth every second of craziness.
Family, friends and everyone in between made this happen. The 3 super heros who randomly showed up and stayed all night Friday saved our lives. There was a flood in the back hallway at one point and all of us lost our minds at other points... but it totally worked.
Can't thank everyone enough for their love and support! And for the babysitters who allowed me to play hooky from motherhood for a few days so I could support Kday and help him live his dreams. THANK YOU.
