Today was one of those days that I looked around me and felt disgusted in the filthy state that my home was in. I haven't cleaned since before our vacation last weekend and then with the "grand theft auto" incident, we've been a little busy. I was ready to don my cleaning attire and get busy putting in some serious elbow grease when Lady began to scream.
The poor dear is battling an ear infection and wouldn't settle down unless constantly perched on my chest while I sang to her and rocked her. I decided to be OK with that. Instead of laying her down and trying in frustration to clean the house between crying fits, I decided instead to slide the rocking chair into the living room and sit. And rock. We rocked all day. My mom (Miss Mary) stopped by for a few minutes to provide enough respite that I could shower and vacuum up the piles of dog hair on the hardwood floors. And then we continued to rock.
I never imagined anything better then spending an entire day cleaning. And then Lady needing me to be a loving mom to cradle and rock her came along. So much better.
P.S. Looking foreword to my birthday and as a shout out to Kday... looking foreword to that gift card to that certain store.....**** Starts with a Office and end with a word that rhymes with Packs :)

Poor Layla. I hope she gets feeling better real soon. Although the thought of snuggling up with her on a rocking chair sounds so nice! WHEN IS YOUR BIRTHDAY?????
shannon, what a good mommy you are!!! this post puts me to shame. I still don't get the house clean and don't just sit with my kids, but where does my day/time go??? actually I really don't know. so keep up the good work and doing what's really important. and sorry to hear about your car. That totally blows, if we see it come across NY we'll let you know! =)
and holy cow, I can't believe layla is 3 months old!!! how crazy. and what a beautiful post about when you first got her. just amazing!!
I hate to say this, but I kinda like it when Jordan's sick, because he loves to be held and cuddled and veg. It's the only time I get to just sit and hold my little boy. But I hope she gets feeling better soon.
