KITCHEN PRETTIES

Although aprons are on their way "back in style" these days... I have always been a fan of them. Kday often used to tease me when he would come home to see me in an old fashioned apron, cell phone in one pocket and my attempt to cook dinner smeared across the other pocket. Fancy aprons are all the rage, but I also think back to those lovely flour-sack aprons that our grandmothers used to wear. They were so much smarter than us. Those aprons served such a practical purpose.
This woman says " There was a time when a woman rose and put on her apron as her most functional piece of clothing. She hardly left her bed, let alone her house, without it. Early photographs of frontier women bear witness to the one garment common to all - the apron. Frontier women wore aprons with pockets. Those pockets concealed hankies, leftover cold biscuits and ham, small toys, eyeglasses, roots, plants, and other stuff gathered from the wilderness."
I used to don my apron only to cook dinner... but I soon realized how nice it was to always have a few handy pockets to stuff things in as I pick up the house. Or a place to wipe my hands after giving Lady a bath or wiping her nose. I love it!

Give it a try... the apron doesn't even have to be a cute fancy one. A plane flour sack with a pocket will do.
Here's a few of my favorites that you might see me sporting if you stop by my home during the day!
Have a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend!

I love them too! They remind me of my grandma. She had special ones for special days and everyday aprons. I thought they would be great for teaching too!

I was caught wearing one at Messels house yesterday. I want to make some with all my free time.

Love, love, love the aprons!!! I think the 1st pic is my favorite material though, but they are all just adorable!!! sorry about not meeting your goal weight. but I seriously think that is such a HARD one to work on....weight. It's just always hanging over you. There are many different factors....age, stress, what you eat, life style, etc. I started walking again because I hate that even most of my "fat" pants/clothes don't fit me anymore. So I to am going to kick it up a notch (thanks to your great inspiration!!). anywho, hope you guys had a fabulous weekend and that the shop is running great!!!
