INDIVIDUALITY- for your butt

DEFINITION - 1 a : total character peculiar to and distinguishing an individual from others

When kday and I were stranded in a roach motel last year in California... we were saved by Facebook (I hate to admit it) and The Church. Although we were complete strangers, a local LDS family opened their home to us and their hospitality was unmeasurable. Kday and I adopted Layla, then we adopted the idea of  individual table chairs from this super cool family that took us into their home. When this family was new and had a few children they were struggling with money. They couldn't afford a matching dining room table and chairs set. So one by one as their children became old enough to need a chair at the table, the parents would take that child out and allow them to pick out "their chair." 8 or 9 children later... A table with "individual" chairs for each person. No fighting over who sat where and no need to spend a bazillion dollars on a gigantic table set. What an awesome idea! Everyone in a family is different, so why not allow them to express it in a productive way... like the place they sit their bottoms every evening as they gather together and share stories around the dinner table?
I love it. We plan on doing it. This family that we stayed with is plenty wealthy now and has no children at home and a lovely matching table set. But I think we'll keep those chairs forever. For our children to come home to, they will always have a safe seat at "home."

Love the idea and the thinking behind it --- what a neat way to celebrate everyone and their individuality.

I knew another family that did this too. It is a very cute idea. It was fun working with you today.
