BIG GIRL - SMALL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

After numerous laps on Mountain Road for hill intervals, lap after lap in the pool, and running uphill until I want to puke... I finally felt like it is paying off. It was a small accomplishment, riding up 200 North on the bike with a little less shortness of breath than usual. It wasn't the huge breakthrough that I keep waiting for, it was hardly noticeable, but it was better. On a good day I huff and puff my wide load of spandex up the small gradual hill that feels like a mountain, but this go around was different. My legs relentlessly allowed me to tap into a little more power and my lungs waited a few minutes longer before the sensation of explosion settled in. An amateur jogger still carried the likelihood of passing me, but it was a small accomplishment... finally.  I talk myself into finding joy in the small accomplishments... at least until I have the bragging rights to a big one.

You should celebrate the little milestones. You deserve it. Maybe next time your lungs won't want to explode at all.

Remember the old adage, "How do you eat an elephant?" ---- one bite at a time. Keep it up, you are my inspiration.
