MY BRAIN'S CHOICE:
Better price for more finished house
5 bed, 4 bath finished
new paint, new carpet, new kitchen floor
finished laundry room on main level
awesome entry from garage into mud room
smaller kitchen, smaller yard
MY HEART'S CHOICE:
Higher price and less finished house
3 bed 2 bath finished
2 unfinished bed, 1unfinished bath, 1 laundry room unfinished
Great back yard
Nice big kitchen
Crummy entry from garage into living room
No deck
Cute exterior

I really like the lighter wood flooring and cabinets of the second one. And I might be coveting the yard a bit too.
If you guys are handy at home construction stuff, the finishing stuff will be easy.....and you will end up with one less bathroom to clean ;)
The green door house is in my ward. You'll love the neighbors, lots of kids, good responsible, friendly people. And anyway I live near by, so what more do you need?

pick whichever one keeps you closest to me!
I love the green door house's exterior, and the kitchen, but I like the first house for the finished rooms... I rent, and I haven't bought a house yet, but I feel like I would be too stressed out to take a house that is so unfinished! Either one you choose, good luck with the decision!
Tough call. I would say that more for the money plus you wouldn't have the stress of finishing anything. You can always paint the front door, throw a few plants in the yard and it will change it up. Do you want a big yard to take of or a little more room to have the kids, an actual office / craft room and room to breath? I don't think you could go wrong with either.
I am getting stressed out just by reading this. These types of choices give me serious anxiety-- haha! but.. i kind of agree with a couple others on the desire to enter a finished house (plus more bang for the buck). however, the bigger home requires more cleaning- and cleaning stresses me out too.
wow i am really not helpful at all.
if it makes you feel any better- i don't think you can go wrong with either one!
I say check out the neighbors... the neighbors make a big difference. YOu dont want some hippy and his family living down the road from you :)
Here is another choice to muddy the waters, and they have GREAT neighbors!! One of the next door neighbor kids is a sweet girl that was in Michael's class. AWESOME neighborhood. http://tours.tourfactory.com/tours/sizetour.asp?frame=t%3D718106%26r%3Dwww%2Ezillow%2Ecom
OK, I guess they like to call me "unknown":)

I would have to vote for house #1...the 2nd is cute, but you have the 'finished' product with #1, it has serious potential and a lot of room...you would make any house chic, and I agree with Melissa, go hang out and mingle with the neighbors, pull a "Scott" and talk to random people you don't know yet ;)
I know this decision is tough. Before you decide, just remember how many years we have been trying to help Aaron and Kevin finish some SMALL projects in their basement, and it's still not complete. With all the finished rooms Kev can have a finished office all ready to go and you can have a crafty-crap room as well. Won't have to go to the dungeon to do laundry either; been there, done that in our first house. Unfinished basement tends to end up as a dumping ground for junk instead of keeping "stuff" to a minimum and having it organized and put away.
Oops- I meant Aaron and KIM, not Kevin.
