PURPILICIOUS

My baby girl turned a whopping big fat FOUR on Saturday and it's freaking me out! Four. That's like totally out of the "toddler" stage. Four is like human being, non baby, non toddler... an actual CHILD, stage. I have a CHILD. Weirding me right out.

She insisted on playing assistant to the party coordinator. Which means I was at her mercy, and the mercy of her obsession with purple. I however, am not really the biggest fan of purple. And neither is poor Rita, I think she was about to puke if she had to see one more hint of lavender party favors. So anyway, Layla and I hit up the party stores and decked the halls in purple (with a touch of yellow, because barf... purple everything? c'mon.) And we threw a PURPLICIOUS party that was pretty fantastic. Minus the fact that it was eight hundred and seventy four degree's outside. Next year, a winter themed party... indoors, like at an ice skating rink. Remind me.

Aaaaaand because I'm no longer of mother to only one spoiled child and I've been in the trenches of motherhood for more than a while now... all you get are phone pics because I was too busy melting in the purple parade of party things to remember to charge the camera. Judge me not.

We decided for forgo boring old cake and go with individual lava cakes - served in a custom dish with "buca birds"

As if the purple Pinata wasn't purple enough... we jazzed it up a bit. (with a touch of yellow) :)

My banner turned out less than darling according to the reaction I got from Layla. It seemed cuter in my mental picture.

The cutest little polka dot girl ever invented. I kinda lover her to death. And those bunz... oh those cheese buns of hers. I have to sit on my hands to keep me from pinching her little cheekies.

Thank you favors included: the purple slime we made for the party, purple pencils, purple ballons, punching balloons, and candy from the pinata.

Later that night Kday and I relished in some one on one time with our favorite squeaky voice little girl. Dinner and a movie. And let me tell you, foregoing holding hands with your hubby so he can hold his little girl on his lap during the "scary" part of Despicable Me2... is totally worth it. It was the cutest thing seeing her little body curled up on her daddy's lap as she fought of slumber land to finish the last few minutes of the movie.

Holy crap, I have a 4 year old.
And she's an amazing 4 year old at that.

Purple was a wonderful color of the day for the most BEAUTIFUL 4 year old. I loved how she loved every minute of it all and was so sweet to say thank you. No, thank you Layla, for the way you have enriched our lives. All I can say is thankful, thankful, THANKFUL.

Shannon- Layla is BEAUTIFUL! What an amazing little girl you have! And what an amazing mom you are! I love reading your blog and seeing picture of your insanely adorable children. Sometime I am nervous thinking about adopting because how can I ever get children that are as beautiful as yours?! (Seriously that thought goes through my head.)Love you!
