It's the time of year that I love love love. Fresh products from the garden fill the decorative bowls on my kitchen counter and are awaiting the preserving process. I truly believe the process of "canning" is a lost art. Provident living is rarely found in the American lifestyle of over abundance and mass wastefulness. I am blessed to be surrounded by talented women who are willing to share the beautiful knowledge that allows us to preserve nature's autumn fertility for months worth of food on our shelves. My grapes won't be "on" until the first frost locks in the sweetness but the apples will be canned soon as will the salsa, peaches and anything else I can get my hands on.

I want to be more domestic but canning just seems so intimidating to me. Silly, I know, but regardless I'm seriously impressed!
I love the smell of cooked apples and grapes. It's such a great part of the fall season.
Sis, that looks delicious. I agree with your statement of provident living. I daydream of a hunger-torn America where only the smart ones like you survive. Send me some of that salsa!!!
